Hairspray the Musical is hitting Manila with an all-star cast and legendary director. And not just that, it’s donating a portion of the November 30 show’s sales to the World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific for each ticket sold through us. So if you’re planning to watch the show, call us at +63917.575.7225 or email wyaap.frankchiu@gmail.com to reserve your tickets.

Atlantis Productions, the same group that’s brought us Rent, Avenue Q, and Cinderella is now bringing the BG FAT Broadway Musical Hit to our very own CCP Theatre.

If you’re thinking of a 2007 movie with John Travolta (playing a woman), michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, Nikki Blonsky, Zac Effron and Amanda Bynes… Yep, that’s the one! The same crazy story, and all the fun music and dancing.

Only this time, it’s going to be played by all-star cast of home-grown theatre talents such as: Michael de Mesa playing Edna Turnblad, Mencu Lauchengco-Yulo as Velma Von Tussle, as “Motormouth” Maybelle, DulceNyoy Volante as Seaweed J. Stubbs, Leo Rialp as Wilbur Turnblad, and Gabe Mercado popping up in multiple roles. This will be directed by Bobby Garcia.

Hairspray was originally a New Lince Cinema film written and directed by John Waters, with a book by Mark O’Donnel and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Hairspray follows the fortunes, or misfortunes, of the heavy-set Tracy Turnbald, who is determined to become a star dancer on the Corny Collins TV pop show. It has gone on to win 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now, before you run out!
