What is the Real World?
From the 3rd to the 14th of March 2008, the World Youth Alliance welcomed 61 students between ages 14 and 16, from LIA International School, Trentino, Italy. Exploring the theme “What is the Real World,” WYA crafted an educational program to include the concepts of solidarity, personhood, stewardship, and other principles of the World Youth Alliance in a series of lectures, games and excursions around New York City. In the end though, the students agreed that the best part of the program was the volunteer work, which entailed visiting the aged in various Jewish Association for Services for the Aged (JASA) Senior Centers and Heart’s Home.
