The Emerging Leaders Conference was scheduled to take place on October 20-21st, however because of the recent events in Beirut, the conference was postponed due to security concerns. The Emerging Leaders Conference will focus on a person-centered approach to sustainable development based on the World Youth Alliance’s International Solidarity Forum (ISF) 2012 declaration. The main outcome of the conference will be “a Call to Action for the Sustainable Future of Arab Youth” written in collaboration with the conference participants. Over 300 people from the region registered for the 200 available spaces, indicating a high level of interest in the themes of the conference.

On October 23rd WYAME participated in the NGO fair at La Sagesse University in Beirut. During the event WYAME provided information about our work to interested students and other NGOs, and registered a number of new charter members.

On October 30th WYAME will provide a presentation about the World Youth Alliance’s mission and goals in the region to 100 students at M&H Arslanian Djemaran. The presentation will introduce the students to the history and goals of WYA, as well as information about how members can participate in regional activities.

On November 17th WYAME, in collaboration with the American University of Beirut, will hold a workshop entitled “Developing Youth Policy: The Real Process”. The workshop will introduce AUB students to the idea of Youth Policy from different perspectives. Participants will explore the process of drafting and implementing policy on the national level, and examine the youth policy in Lebanon. The outcome of the workshop will be an opinion paper reflecting the views of the participants regarding the design of youth policy.
