This summer London will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games and World Youth Alliance (WYA) takes this opportunity to host the first ever WYAlympics in London from the 24th – 27th of August.

This exciting event will feature educational seminars, sports competitions and cultural activities focusing on the intrinsic dignity of the human person as experienced in the Olympics and Paralympics Games.

In the same spirit of the Olympics, WYAlympics aims to encourage a spirit of building solidarity, International Relations and personal freedom and excellence through sport. In the same spirit as the Paralympics, WYAlympics aims to show that physical disability does not inhibit one from human flourishing, joy, and achievement of excellence. The Paralympics and the Olympics are an inspiring example of building mutual respect and friendship among people and nations through sports. Thus, by cultural, educational and sportive events, we will explore the role of sport in human flourishing and the connection between disability and dignity.

The reason WYA’s UK chapter organised this event with fellow WYA Europe chapters is to bring European youth together to share our understanding of the meaning of human dignity and the intrinsic value of each person. The aim of this project is to bind all members of the World Youth Alliance in the same spirit of the Olympic Games, experience and learn together about the importance of freedom of excellence and human dignity.
