A brief summary of the program:
The Paideia Summer Academy is three weeks in length, Monday through Friday. Classes are held July 5th – July 22nd, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:20 p.m., with a daily, optional study session from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. All classes are held at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.
Each day, students at the Paideia Summer Academy engage in seminar-style courses designed to introduce them to rigorous academic texts and increase student proficiency in comprehension, synthesis, and analysis. In addition to simple review and comprehension of the materials, students engage actively in discussion, offering opinion, insight, analysis and synthesis of the texts and apply the readings to real-world scenarios and analysis of current events.
Each day at the Academy is thematic, i.e., the topic examined in the History class is philosophically examined, and these issues are then connected to relevant, current domestic and international affairs.
Tuition cost for the Summer Academy is $785. A number of full and partial scholarships are available for students demonstrating a substantial financial need.
