Joy Kuisa is a law student who believes that the justice system is competent and effective. She is a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Joy was introduced to the world of ‘Learned Friends’ by her passion for helping the vulnerable people in the community whose rights are oppressed, infringed, or denied. Her love for legal drama also drove her to want to be in the legal realm. Novels written by John Grisham and the ‘Suits’, a legal TV show, encouraged her to be a female version of Harvey Specter (a character in Suits). She joined WYA to be able to sensitize diverse communities on the importance of law and how to acquire it at arm’s length. In particular, she would want to make people aware of their rights in general and the importance of respecting each other’s rights. Her goal is to be able to bring the law closer to the community. She knows that there is no single approach for everyone, so she continues to educate herself on emerging issues and trends to provide the most comprehensive solution to a problem. Joy also enjoys photography. She believes in the quote “keep your love of nature, for that, is the true way to understand art more and more.” – Vincent Van Gogh
