WYA Delivers Statement at the 43rd UN Commission on Population and Development

Dear WYA Friends,

The 43rd Commission on Population and Development (CPD) is taking place at the United Nations, New York this week. As WYA was founded during the CPD in 1999, we remain to actively participate in this very important commission. As a youth organization, we recognize that authentic development can only happen if the person is seen at the center of all debates and policy. This being said, it is vital that the pressing issue of maternal health is separated from reproductive health rights.

Our WYA staff and members have been present at the commissions and actively sharing with the delegates about WYA’s approach to development. One of our North American interns, Christin Redfield, read a statement before the end of yesterday’s plenary session on April 14. For more details, you may visit: https://www.wya.net/news/newsitem.html?newsid=349

WYA Asia Pacific will be giving a training on maternal health issues and development this coming May. If you would like to get details about the event, please send me an email. We look forward to having you join us.

Thank you very much for your time. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Renelyn Tan
WYAAP Regional Director
