The International Summer School on Bioethics and Human Rights (ISSBHR) will take place in Šibenik from July 27th to August 2nd.
Organized by WYA Europe in collaboration with WYA Croatia, the program will bring together 40 young participants from around the world, alongside renowned experts in the field of bioethics and human rights. Building on the success of previous editions, which have welcomed over 350 participants since 2018, ISSBHR continues to provide a unique international learning experience.
The ISSBHR aims to offer an in-depth educational program addressing key bioethical issues that may challenge or endanger human dignity, while equipping young people with the tools to respond to these challenges. Through the analysis of medical research, legal frameworks, and philosophical principles, participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of the field. The program includes interactive lectures, discussions, debates, and workshops led by international experts in medicine, law, and philosophy, allowing participants to strengthen their argumentation, public speaking, and advocacy skills.
The program is open to young people aged 18–30 with a good level of English and a demonstrated interest in bioethics and human rights. Throughout the week, participants will engage with topics such as the philosophical foundations of bioethics, the ethical implications of emerging technologies and transhumanism, debates surrounding abortion and euthanasia, gender theory, demographic challenges, and the role of policy and advocacy in defending human dignity.
