Directora de la WYA Latin America: Consejera del Consejo Estatal de la Juventud, Jalisco, México
Lourdes Villanueva, Directora para América Latina de la World Youth Alliance, fue seleccionada Consejera del Consejo Estatal de la Juventud, Jalisco en México.
Como se explica en el capítulo cuarto de la Ley orgánica del Instituto Jalisciense de la Juventud, “el Consejo es un órgano de consulta y de promoción de los programas y políticas destinados a la protección, bienestar y desarrollo integral de la juventud y al fomento de los valores humanos y comunitarios.”
Lourdes, así como los otros diez consejeros seleccionados, aplicó hace ya tres meses: “Conocí la convocatoria a través de los medios de comunicación y de algunos de mis conocidos también interesados en promover la participación juvenil”. Agrega Villanueva: “Trabajar con jóvenes tan sobresalientes es una gran oportunidad para promover políticas y actividades que fomenten el bienestar y desarrollo integral de todos los Jóvenes del Estado”.
Afirmó que para ella “trabajar en el consejo es un gran reto y una enorme responsabilidad, sin embargo, estoy segura que seremos capaces de hacer excelentes propuestas, trabajar duro e inteligentemente para convertir las ideas y las metas en realidades concretas. Lourdes considera que esta es una gran oportunidad para demostrar que cuando a los jóvenes se les dan las oportunidades son capaces de comprometerse, trabajar profesional y eficientemente por el bien común.

WYALA Director appointed as Youth Councillor of Jalisco State*
Lourdes Villanueva, Latin American Director of the World Youth Alliance, has been elected Councillor of the Youth Council of the State of Jalisco in Mexico. The Council has been created to promote programs and policies for young people.
“Such programs exist to protect and promote the wellbeing and integral development of youth as well to foster human and communitarian values” explains Villaneuva, who applied to be part of the Council three months ago, along with ten fellow councillors.
“I got to know about the Council through the media and through other friends of mine interested in promoting youth participation. It is a great opportunity to work with outstanding young people to promote policies and activities that will foster the wellbeing and integral development of all the youth of Jalisco”, she added.
“Working in the Council is a great challenge but I am sure that we will be able to make an excellent contribution, transforming hard work, smart ideas and collective goals into concrete realities. This is our opportunity to demonstrate that when young people are given the opportunities to commit their talents, they work professionally and efficiently for the common good”.
