Some thoughts and insights from our long serving Staff Member Renelyn Tan.

1. How did you first get involved with WYA?

I received a forwarded email from my college friend about World Youth Alliance. During that time, they were looking for interns at the Asia Pacific office in Manila.

2. What impact has WYA had on you?

WYA’s impact on my life is immense. I was not only able to grow professionally in my career. More importantly, I was able to improve my relationship with my family members and friends through WYA’s influence. The great thing about WYA is that it is a way of life.

3. Why did you join WYA among thousands of other NGOs in the Philippines?

Because I saw the unique and relevant mission that WYA hopes to achieve long term – to create change in policy and culture by focusing on the most essential element that binds everyone, our human dignity.

4. Why do young people join WYA in your country?

In the Philippines, young people join WYA because of the activities that we offer, the good people that they get to meet and learn from. More importantly, they see that WYA is the very environment where young people can grow as an individual.

5. What is it like to work for WYA?

Fulfilling. Working with WYA has allowed me to work with the most talented yet humble people I have ever encountered. There is so much to learn from your colleagues who come from different parts of the world. I can’t even believe that I have been with WYA for almost 6 years now and counting 🙂

6. What’s your favorite animal and food?

I don’t have a favorite animal but I love fresh oysters and salmon sashimi.
