The World Youth Alliance is pleased to welcome a new member to its staff: Siobhan Heekin-Canedy, the new WYA North America Program Officer.

Siobhan is a previous Olympic figure skater. She spent 17 years of training and competing in the sport—but retired at the age of 22 in order to pursue her education. Siobhan has a Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Aquinas College, and a Master’s in International Affairs at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

In taking up the role of NA Program Officer, Siobhan shares, “WYA beautifully articulates my belief in the dignity of the human person and the inestimable value of every human life.”

Through this position, she is looking forward to strengthening WYA NA’s presence on social media and connecting with college students. Siobhan believes that social media and the university are two key areas for reaching young people with the message of human dignity.

In her free time, she sometimes skates. She also loves travelling, reading, blogging, and spending quality time with friends and family. Siobhan is a huge fan of espresso (with milk, of course) and chocolate. She loves music and has a pretty eclectic musical taste.

WYA is glad to have you onboard, Siobhan!
