This week, from September 24th to September 29th, I had the opportunity to participate in an event in Vienna organized by WYA. It’s been a year ago since I got to know this organization but after 4 preparational meetings and finally this week in Vienna it has been now time that I realize the scope and impact it has on society, especially in the youth. During a week, 45 young people (between 18 and 30) from different countries worked together around the theme: human dignity and human rights.
On day 1 we officially celebrated the opening of this event with an international dinner in which we share the typical food of our places of origin. It was an enriching and fun experience.
The first days gave us the chance to meet us and frame the problem of human dignity in each of our countries of origin. We were divided into groups of five young people from the same country and analyzed the different problems and challenges we are facing in our countries. It was a unique experience to learn from the different perspectives of young people from all over the world. The groups came from: Belgium, Croatia, Poland, Kosovo, Portugal, Austria, Spain and Italy. Although there were even more nationalities represented as some of them also came from countries such as China, Syria … In essence: an impressive diversity.
The dynamics we did were evolving towards a more practical application, until last day where we tried to find solutions to a real and specific problem of our country. We did this through the “problem tree-solution tree” method. The ways of working were really innovative and practical and they helped us to develop the critical spirit and the capacity for open dialogue.
In addition to the cultural exchange, we had the opportunity to visit Vienna. Every day we had some time to do some tourism around the city and one of the days we did a super interesting guided tour.
With this experience, WYA has managed to instill in each of us the desire to change the world and encouraged us to be aware that each one can be an active part of the change and not just a passive subject.
I am taking a lot from this trip, especially good friends, good purposes and eager to positively influence my society.

WYA me ha inculcado el deseo de cambiar el mundo
Esta semana, entre el 24 y 29 de Septiembre, he tenido la oportunidad de participar en un evento en Viena organizado por WYA, hace un año que conozco esta organizacion pero después de 4 reuniones preparatorias hasta hoy no he sido consciente del alcance y repercusion que tiene en la sociedad, especialmente en los jovenes. Durante una semana trabajamos juntos 45 jóvenes de distintos paises de entre 18 y 30 años entorno a un tema: la dignidad humana y los derechos humanos.
El día 1 celebramos oficialmente la apertura de este evento con una cena internacional en la que compartimos la comida típica de nuestros lugares de origen. Fue una experiencia enriquecerora y divertida.
Los primeros días nos sirvieron para conocernos y enmarcar la problematica de la dignidad humana en cada uno de nuestros paises de origen, nos dividimos en grupos, cada grupo estaba formado por cinco jovenes de un mismo pais y analizamos los distintos problemas y retos ante los que nos emfrentamos. Fue una experiemcia unica aprender de las distintas perspectivas de jovenes de todo el mundo. Los grupos provenian de: Bélgica, Croacia, Polonia, Kosovo, Portugal, Austria, España e Italia. Aunque había aun más nacionalidades, personas que representaban estos lugares provenían tambien de otros países como China, Siria… En definiva: una diversidad impresionante.
Las dinámicas que hicimos fueron evolucionando hacia una aplicación más práctica, hasta lograr el último día encontrar soluciones a un problema real y especifico de nuestro país. Esto lo hicimos mediante el método “problem tree-solution tree”, este método y otras formas de trabajar fueron realmente innovadoras y practicas, nos ayudaron a desarrollar el espiritu crítico y la capacidad de diálogo abierto.
Además de intercambio cultural en el que nos vimos inmersos durante cinco días, tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer Viena, cada día teniamos un rato para conocer la ciudad y uno de los días hicimos un tour guiado por las zonas más relevantes de la ciudad.
Con esta experiencia WYA ha conseguido infundir en cada uno de nosotros, los 45 sin excepción, ganas de cambiar el mundo, ser conscientes de que cada uno puede ser parte activa del cambio y no sólo sujeto paciente.
De este viaje me llevo mucho, sobre todo grandes amigos, buenos propositos y muchas ganas de influir positivamente en mi sociedad.
