Raymond Kiprotich Kigai is a hardworking and passionate young man who was born and raised in Kenya. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Nairobi. He is passionate about the empowerment of the youth, the promotion of political consciousness, and general involvement in governance processes among the youth. Raymond got accepted for the 2021 Batch 3 internship program at the World Youth Alliance Africa after successfully applying for it. He got the opportunity to interact more with the ideas and values that are in line with the main goal of the WYA organization and he successfully signed the WYA Charter in the process. He was intrigued by the WYA’s idea of advocacy for human dignity among the youth and he believes that through the internship opportunity he will be able to create more awareness about various issues such as mental health which affects many African youths but is not given the attention it deserves. He has an interest in art and anything that is art-related. He enjoys spending his free time watching documentaries, doing research to learn and discover about new things, and also sometimes practicing the art of calligraphy.
Desmond Masia Mukili Hails from Nairobi in Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree from the Technical University of Kenya majoring in Environmental Resources Management. He is very passionate about achieving a sustainable life on earth for all beings. After familiarizing himself with the World Youth Alliance mission and vision, Desmond signed the charter in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown after coming across WYA online. He enjoys reading, painting, photography and listening to music. Desmond applied for the internship out of curiosity and the desire to have an impact on the youth of the world and was accepted to the batch 3 program. He hopes to gain exposure working in a professional setting as well as input his creative ideas to form solutions to issues affecting the youth.
Felix Kipkemoi Bett is a Kenyan citizen with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from the Multimedia University of Kenya. During his studies, he interned at the Kenyan parliament under the ICT department where he was able to attain experience in IP telephony, hardware and software maintenance. He is a multi-talented IT expert with consistent success in planning and operational improvements. He has a strong desire and passion to see young people arise and get into the field of technology. He has developed a great enthusiasm in the field of Python programming, cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
Athena Ayapan Ekorot has completed coursework for a Bachelor of Law degree at Strathmore University and is currently awaiting graduation. She is a passionate activist who aims to work in order to change the community so as to make it a better place. She believes in finding a voice for the voiceless and fighting for the rights of the minority and marginalized groups. Athena enjoys writing blogs, sports activities, and traveling. She is a lover of art, especially the purest expressions of art lived on a daily basis, fashion.
Ashley Rakatsinzwa Rudo is a conscientious and ambitious lady with a keen interest in gender advocacy and youth entrepreneurship. She was born and raised in Zimbabwe where she studied B.A and M.A in Applied Linguistics at the University of Zimbabwe. Her inquisitive nature led her to the WYA website. After exploring the site, she was captivated by the promotion of human dignity which lies at the core of the organization’s mission and vision. This compelled her to apply for the internship program where she aspires to foster change and eradicate poverty among women and the youth. She envisions change from the lenses of equality, equity, and human dignity.
